Probably the largest homebuilder in Richmond, Ryan Homes is a publicly traded company (NSYE: NVR) and builds regionally in many states and markets along the east coast.

Ryan is known for building out entire subdivisions and typically shies away from competing within subdivisions with other builders. They build more of an aggressively styled transitional home. Due to their size and their volume, they are also able to provide housing at cheaper prices than many of their competitors.

They also build a tremendous amount of townhomes throughout Richmond, enhancing their ability to provide affordable homes with more stylish designs.

As the market emerges from the sweeping changes of 2009, Ryan is one of the few builders still building speculatively and is one of the only builders currently buying lots.
